Harley Barnes had this motel built in 1965, it closed in 1986 and a few years later became a senior living facility. Originally the motel had 25 units with intentions to expand if business warranted it. Apparently it did because west and north wings made up the original motel and the east wing was added later. When the motel was first proposed the named was to be the Trade Winds Motel. I'm not sure when the restaurant was added to the complex.

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
