This cast bronze statue of the famed baseball player Mickey Mantle was dedicated by Commerce officials in 2010. It stands next to the 1952 to 1985 alignment of the Mother Road. Local artist, Nick Calcagno designed the nine foot tall statue. Mantle is shown batting from on top of a pretty unusual home plate on top of a granite base inside a miniature baseball diamond.

There is a place to park off of Mickey Mantle Blvd. (Hwy 69) just south of the baseball field at Commerce High School.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
