If baseball is the great American passtime, this little house has got to be on the list of must see places for fans of the game of any age. Mickey Mantle, "the Commerce Comet" was 3 years old when his family moved to Commerce. After years of batting lessons from his dad and grandfather he was was invited to the Yankees instructional camp when he was 19 years old. While excelling at high school baseball Mantle also played football and basketball.

xA plaque on the house tells the story of Mickey Mantle and his batting practice in the yard. If the ball went over the house, it was a home run!

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
