This this little building was originally used by the Claremore Police Department . It was built in 1940 as a WPA Project. The building was constructed using cut and coursed buff colored native stone.

xOne cool feature of this little building is the large windows on the front of the building that wrap around the corner. Two of the windows on the back of the building are filled with glass block.

This small plaque is on the NE corner of the building.

xThe small plaque reads "USA, 1940, WPA, Oklahoma". I don't know how common this style of plaque is, but this is the first one I've come across on Route 66.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
