Old Police Station103 J.M. Davis Blvd., Claremore, OKPhone:
This this little building was originally used by the Claremore Police Department . It was built in 1940 as a WPA Project. The building was constructed using cut and coursed buff colored native stone.
This small plaque is on the NE corner of the building.

One
cool feature of this little building is the large windows on the front
of the building that wrap around the corner. Two of the windows on the
back of the building are filled with glass block.
The
small plaque reads "USA, 1940, WPA, Oklahoma". I don't know
how common this style of plaque is, but this is the first one I've come
across on Route 66.

Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
