The H&S Theatre opened on September 16, 1926 and not much has changed since. OK the vaudeville acts are gone, but the first run movies are still playing, Unless you're paying close attention you could drive right by the building and not realize it is a theater.

Architects A.C. Davis & Sons of Shawnee, OK designed the building and the Hill Company of Ada, OK built it. Something like130,000 bricks went into building the theater.

x Instead of a marquee, a rather small modern electric sign on the balcony listing the current movie. The theatre shows first-run movies and is open nightly.

x The building is named for the original owners retired Army Col. R. Hoover and H. G.Stettmund. Some of the original seats are on display at the Lincoln County Historical Society Museum of Pioneer History down the street at 717 Manvel Ave.

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
