The 1902 Flynt building was home to the American Loan office when we snapped these photos in 2016. This building was constructed for W.A. (Billy) & Laura Flynt and then leased as a grocery store. Over the years it was also known as the C & M Appliance building. The C & M stand for C.O. Cardwell & F. Murphy who also had a hardware and implement business here for many years.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
