The old post office is located on Market St. between Wichita Ave. and
Broadway. But that's not where it started out. At some point early on
in the towns history there was a dispute of sorts between those on the
east and west sides of town over water. Apparently as a result the folks
on the east side decided picking the post office up and moving it to this
spot was a good idea. At least that's the commonly told story. What moving
the post office had to do with the water issue is beyond me.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
