East < GO > West

This abandoned Trading Post is not quite 1 mile west of Herman's Garage. The diamond shaped windows and the mural on the front of this old trading post make an interesting photo.

x A little closer look at the mural showing the flying hawk and pink cliffs. Also offers a glimpse at the ruble inside the ruins. There was more than one trading post in Thoreau so this could be the old Thoreau Trading Post, the Beautiful Mountain Trading Post or Red Mountain Trading Post & Cottage Camp, but it doesn't appear to be the Red Arrow Trading Post & Cottage Camp. The diamond shaped windows kind of make me hope it was the Beautiful Mountain Trading Post.

x The writing that is barely visible above the windows in this photos says Indian Rugs and Jewelry. This part of the building looks like it might have been an addition to the original part because the style doesn't quite match, especially the windows..

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
