This appears to be the old San Fidel Texaco Garage and Lunch Room that has been repurposed as a trading post. The sign on the door said closed when we went by in 2019. More than likely the two doors on the far right were for the restrooms. The San Fidel Garage dates to at least 1927 according to newspapers clippings from the time. A 1929 ad offers the lunch room at the San Fidel Garage for rent.

xIn 2019 the sign out front said Route US 66 Trading Post, but it is typical of a Texaco sign. The sign wasn't standing here in 2006 so I don't know if it is original to the station or a new replacement. It's not uncommon for signs to be taken down and stored "out back" when a station closes or is repurposed. But before it advertised the Route 66 Trading Post it said San Fidel on the top and Geezerville on the bottom with a zia in the center and Rte 66 on either side of the Zia.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
