Mt. Taylor Motel

Route 66 (Highway 124), Cubero, NM
Phone:x

East < GO > West

Just west of Villa Cubero Trading Post you come to the ruins of the Mt. Taylor Motel on the north side of the road

xThis close-up of wall shows the interesting tiles in the stonework on the exterior walls.

xThe namesake of the motel is Mt. Taylor volcano in the San Mateo mountains to the north, that's the peaks on the left in this photo.

xThere had been another motel to the west of the Mt. Taylor Motel, but all that's left is a sign post and some foundation ruins.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
