This
close-up of wall shows the interesting tiles in the stonework on the
exterior walls.
The
namesake of the motel is Mt. Taylor volcano in the San Mateo mountains
to the north, that's the peaks on the left in this photo.
There
had been another motel to the west of the Mt. Taylor Motel, but all
that's left is a sign post and some foundation ruins.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
