The Bow and Arrow Lodge opened in 1941 as Urban Motor Lodge owned by the Morgan. It had with 25 units with garages and was recommended by Duncan Hines. In 1959 you could get a room here for anywhere from $5 to 9.00. Sometime after 1959 a swimming pool was added to the property, but it's long gone now.

The cool post 1959 neon sign replaced a much more modest version, it's probably a drive by photo op. An even early and very attractive sign was used when this was still the Urban Motor Lodge.

NOTE: In the postcard the business name is at the bottom oft the text, that seems odd. There's a big difference in the information about the motel between the postcard and the 1959 AAA Tour Book listing.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
