Doodlet's (National Hotel)

East < GO > West

Doodlets occupies what was originally this was the 1800s National Hotel. After the National became the Normandie Hotel in 1908 the third floor was added. The Nomandie rented rooms for any where from 50 cents to $1.50 or so, a meal could be had for 35 cents.

The xt change came when the building became the Montezuma Hotel, I'm not surewhen that was. In 1966 a new owner moved her Doodlet's gift shop into the first floor , she sold the business, but not the building, in 2010 but the Doodlet's shop is still there in 2021. In 2006 the the second and third floors floors were being renovated to be condominiums when ancient artifacts were found beneath the building.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
