The Cottonwood Court was opened in the late 1940s by George T. Sale II
and featured garages for guests cars. By 1958 the motel had changed hands
and Mr. and Mrs. John Own being the new owners. The 1959/60 AAA Tour Book
as having 15 units with Televisions, radios and individually controlled
heat, all for as little as $6.00 per nite.

road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
