This building dates back to 1930 when it was the 10th Piggly Wiggly grocery store to open in Albuquerque. Piggly Wiggly only stayed here a few years and in 1936 the store became the second Economy Food Market in Albuquerque. By the mid 90s it was the AAA laundry, a Laundromat offering prices as low as 25 cents per load. In 1959 it was home to Andy's Wholesale Company. In early 1967 a Goodwill store that had been here since the early-60s was replaced by an American Legion Economy Store was located here. In 2015 the building was home to the Minsterios Entrada al Cielo church.

The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 as part of the Barelas-South Fourth Street Historic District.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
