If you are even a little bit interested in science or space this is a really cool stop. Marshfield is the birthplace to Edwin Powell Hubble and to honor him a quarter-scale of the Hubble Space Telescope is on display at the Webster County Courthouse Square. It was dedicated on July 4, 1994. It is located on the Clay Street (west) side of the courthouse.

x Also on the Courthouse Square in Marshfield is a memorial to honor military protecting our freedom. The memorial is located at the Madison and Crittenden Streets corner of the courthouse square.

The five pillars are for the Coast Guard, Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force. The inscription on the center pillar reads:

"Dedicated to all who
serve in our country's
military protecting our
freedoms, during times
of peace and war, their
love of country and
devotion to duty will
be forever remembered"

xThe Hubble replica stands on the west side of the courthouse. The Military monument is on the southeast corner of the square. There is also a canon on display on the southwest corner.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
