Piney Beach Resort

Tank Rd, Devils Elbow, MO

East < GO > West

The Piney Beach Resort on Tank Rd in Devils Elbow sits on the west side of the Big Piney River. The resort was built sometime between 1949 to 1952 by Riley Davenport. There were 8 or 9 cabins, a lodge and a private beach. Before the big flood of 2017 the one 1 room or 2 room cabins could be rented by the week or month. When we went by after the flood it looked like they were working to restore the cabins. Before the 2017 flood 5 of the original cabins were available for rent.

The property changed owners several time over the years and had been closed after an earlier flood in 1982. It reopened to guests after another set of new owners took over in 2006.

Heading west you need to back track a bit from the intersection of Teardrop Rd and the 4 lane to get to the Piney Beach Cabins.

It is located off of Route 66 (Hwy Z) on Tank Rd.

Turn NW off the 4 lane at Tank Rd, the make a sharp right turn (almost a U-turn) at the first intersection to stay on Tank Road to the cabins.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
