MO Hicks is often recommended by folks who are traveling Route 66. It's
right next to the Wagon Wheel
Motel. It opened in 2002, was damaged by fire in early 2011 and reopened
in October 2011. We like to stop here for a meal whenever we are in Cuba.
In the mid 1940s Robert Martin built a second cafe and gas station where
MO Hicks stands now. That station and cafe were simply referred to as
the Wagon Wheel Annex. In 1946 Paul and Barbara Killeen bought this
second station and cafe and changed the name to The Annex.

Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
