This little brick cottage style building was originally a Conoco Gas Station
located at Washington (Route 66) & Filmore Streets. The original building
was much smaller than seen here, it only included the single small entry
door with one window on each side. The gable end with the large window
on the left was built as a service bay. It and a portion of the rest of
building including one of the smaller side by side widows was a later
addition to the building.
The
former station has served various purposes over the years including pet
grooming station and an upholstery shop. This photo is from 2012. In 2017
the restored and once again repurposed building, shown in the first photo,
was a Christian Science Reading Room.

About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
