This kiosk and rest area were built in 2014 with hopes it would encourage Route 66 travelers and others to spend a little more time and money in Kansas. It highlights some of the historic attractions for Route 66 travelers

The informational kiosk and parking area are located just west of the roundabout where Routee 66 crosses US Hwy 400.

The project began with a $20,000 grant from the U.S. Federal Highway Administration and help from the Kansas Department of Transportation. It was designed and constructed by the construction technology students at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS.

xSigns like the "Boom Towns" tell the story of Route 66 in Kansas, The other signs include "Kansas Historic Route 66 Byway", "Bridging the American Divide", "Lands Legacy". "Crossroads of Kansas", and "Cosmopolitan Corner", all worth taking time to read.
