The informational kiosk and parking area are located just west of the roundabout where Routee 66 crosses US Hwy 400. GPS: 37.075614, -94.717638 The project began with a $20,000 grant from the U.S. Federal Highway Administration and help from the Kansas Department of Transportation. It was designed and constructed by the construction technology students at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. Among
the six informational sign boards in the kiosk is this one listing landmarks
in Kansas. Some of the those landmarks listed include the: Signs like the "Boom Towns" tell the story of Route 66 in Kansas, The other signs include "Kansas Historic Route 66 Byway", "Bridging the American Divide", "Lands Legacy". "Crossroads of Kansas", and "Cosmopolitan Corner", all worth taking time to read.
