Front Street Garage118 N. Main St., Galena, KSPhone:
Early on in the buildings life as a garage there were White Rose visible gas pumps out front and a U. S. Tires sign above the entrance. In 1932 it sold Phillips 66 gas.
The ghost writing on the side of the building is from when the building was built as the J H Smith Lumber Company. The other ghost signs are for the Palace Drug Store which was located down the street and for three brands of cigars. It was this ghost writing that got the attention from John Lasseter, producer and director of CARS. Photo(s): 2012, 2015

The Front Street Garage business in this building dates to the 1930s.
At that time it was owned by A. C. Bradshaw.
Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
