The Mar Theater opened a block off Route 66 in 1937. The original theater
seats 300 and a smaller newer auditorium seats 64 moviegoers. It had an
early form of air conditioning to keep moviegoers cool in the hot summer
times. With the exception of the concession area being updated the lobby
looks pretty much like it did when it first opened.
The original marquee is still used to announce what's playing on the
big screens inside. The small storefronts on either side of the theater
entrance are rented to other businesses.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
