Money Creek Bridge
Historic U.S. 66 1/2 miles NE of Towanda, IL
Phone:
This 1945 bridge over Money Creek is right next to old Route 66 on the
abandoned southbound lanes. There is a pullout just south of the bridge
where you can park and walk to the bridge for pictures.
The bridge is about 1/2 mile NE of Towanda. The 1940s four lane highway
has been reduced to two lanes here with the abandonment of the two southbound
lanes. This bridge served those southbound lanes.
GPS: 40.573041, -88.885420
The old southbound lanes here are part of the Historic Route 66 Trail
in Towanda. The bridge is 115 feet long with the longest span being
44.9 feet and has a deck width of 27.9 feet. It was built using a concrete
tee beam design. The twin to this bridge sits next to it and still serves
Historic U.S. 66.
