Bell Miller was a succesful upscale florist that built the three-story, six flat Bell Miller Apartments in 1909. They were designed by Architect George H. Helmle In a Classical Revival style. The building is in what is known as Springfield/s Aristocracy Hill. These were luxury apartments attracting middle-class professionals. There were two apartment on each floor, each with a butler's pantry and servant's quarters. They even had a separate stair and entry for the servants.

The Inn at 835 is owned by the Conn Hospitality Group and in 1994 they completely renovated and the apartments, converting them into seven luxurious guest ooms. The building was added to the NRHP in 1995 - #95001242.
