The Inn at 835835 2nd St S. (2nd St & Canedy St), Springfield, ILPhone:
Bell Miller was a succesful upscale florist that built the three-story, six flat Bell Miller Apartments in 1909. They were designed by Architect George H. Helmle In a Classical Revival style. The building is in what is known as Springfield/s Aristocracy Hill. These were luxury apartments attracting middle-class professionals. There were two apartment on each floor, each with a butler's pantry and servant's quarters. They even had a separate stair and entry for the servants. The Inn at 835 is owned by the Conn Hospitality Group and in 1994 they completely renovated and the apartments, converting them into seven luxurious guest ooms. The building was added to the NRHP in 1995 - #95001242.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
