This was one of two Hen House Restaurants on Route 66 in Illinois when
we went by in 2015. The other one was in Mitchell, IL. These are the
only two left on the Mother Road in Illinois. At one time the chain
that started in 1969 had 42 restaurants but not all on the Mother road.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
