In 2016 the Gilding Arts Museum was located in the former 1919 Liberty Cafe building shown in the center of the photo above. In 2012 the museum opened a small exhibition space inside what was then the Walldogs Museum. The Walldogs Mural Museum has since moved to space in the same building as the Route 66 Museum.

By 2015 the expanded Gilding Museum opened to the public Along with numerous examples of the gilding arts the museum houses the museum Swift Collection of gold beating tools and more. There is also a small gift shop in the museum.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
