Tom Manning didn't just own the Manning Trailer Camp (Diamond Camp) across the street, by 1938 he was selling used cars from this location. In 1939 and 1941 it was also listed in local ads as as Manning's Standard Station.

For businesses on Pine Street 1940 was the year they got bypassed by Route 66 and Pine Street became "City 66", which no doubt reduced traffic dramatically.

By May of 1946 this was the Reykjavik Palace Restaurant, which didn't last that long, by November of that year it was Brown' Holiday Inn, another short lived cafe, serving "Special Chicken Dinners". By may of 1947 it was Al's Hi-Way Cafe.

The building, and the one next-door at 505 Pine, went on to serve any number and variety of businesses over the years.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
