This motel was built in 1984 and is on the same site that the Whoopee Ride was located. (Joliet Ave.& Lawndale Ave. Customer at the Whoopee Ride drove their own cars on a closed course wooden road that mimicked a a road or bridge with a sharp crest. Sort of like the Whee Bridge in Carthage, Missouri.

Being built in 1984 at the very end of the historic Route 66 era the motel has no real connection to the historic Mother Road beyond being on the former site of Fairyland Park and the famous Whoopee Ride.

x It's a pretty basic sign.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
