This is a cool stop with kids, or without! You get the Pink Elephant, a Harley Davidson Muffler Man, a Flying Saucer House, a huge Soft Serve stand. The namesake Pink Elephant came from the old Coliseum Ballroom site in Benld.

The Pink Elephant Antique Mall is located just south of I-55 exit 37 on the west frontage road. Take Henry Street south from Nichols St. / New Douglas Road to the frontage road.

The 1927 building was the Livingston High School until 2004. In 2006 Dave & Cheryl Hammon bought the property and turned it into the Pink Elephant. The gymnasium was added in 1949 replacing they old gym that had been in the basement. The newer gym is now crammed full of antiques and memorabilia of all sorts, and that just the gym. I suspect every nook and cranny in the building is just as packed. Look for the Athletic "Eagles" on the wall in the main antique mall room (gym).

xGot a hankering for some soft serve ice cream, this may be the place to get some. This huge Twistee Treat ice cream cone came all the way from Pennsylvania according to one story I've read about it.

xThe "Flying Saucer" is really a House of the Future, AKA: Futuro House that was exhibited at the Illinois State Fair in the 1960s/70s. Apparently there are something like 70 of the structures spread around the globe, no, I don't know where the others are. A 2010 newspaper article indicated it might become a diner in the future. But that hadn't happened yet when we visited in 2015.

xThe Harley Davidson Muffler Man found outside was once located inside the mall. Muffler Men were created from 1962 - 1974 and the right hand is always held up and the left hand down and they usually are 14-25 feet tall.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
