Logan County Courthouse
601 Broadway St. Lincoln, IL 62656
Phone:
The stately Logan County Courthouse sits on a block that also holds several
historical markers and monuments. This is the third courthouse built in
the town square. The first one burned down in 1857 and was replaced the
following year. The 1858 courthouse was demolished in 1903 to make room
for the current one shown here. This one was completed in 1905 at a cost
of $157,000. Notice the clocks on the dome with the correct time.
This is a cannon that was used during the Civil War by the Logan County
artillery unit.
The inscription on the marker reads
"In honor of all the Veterans who serve to keep our country
free". The seals are for the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy and
Coast Guard."
The marker was dedicated on May 26, 2008.
