The stately Logan County Courthouse sits on a block that also holds several historical markers and monuments. This is the third courthouse built in the town square. The first one burned down in 1857 and was replaced the following year. The 1858 courthouse was demolished in 1903 to make room for the current one shown here. This one was completed in 1905 at a cost of $157,000. Notice the clocks on the dome with the correct time.

x This is a cannon that was used during the Civil War by the Logan County artillery unit.

x The inscription on the marker reads

"In honor of all the Veterans who serve to keep our country free". The seals are for the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard."

The marker was dedicated on May 26, 2008.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
