Lincoln is the only city in the United States that was named in honor
of Abraham Lincoln before he became president. The Lincoln City Hall was
built in 1895. It is located at Broadway and McLean Streets, just across
the intersection from the Courthouse.
The phone booth on the roof served as a reporting station for weather
watchers. The rooftop spot may have been used during WWII for sky watchers
for civil defense. When the roof was replaced they were going to remove
the phone booth but public outcry saved it.
