The Rialto Square Theater opened in 1926 as a "Vaudeville Movie Palace". . Called the "Jewel of Joliet" it was a $2,000,000.00 project including a lobby with eighteen Corinthian styled columns and a twenty foot tall crystal chandelier. It was restored in 1980 and became a performing arts center. In 2006 a $5,000,000.00 "Polish the Jewel of Joliet" renovation fundraising campaign was successful. The theater is located at the intersection of Chicago and Van Buren Streets.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
