Since 1915 three generations from the DeBenedetti family have been baking goodies here. OK, multi-generation family businesses are fairly common, but this one is a bit less common since those three generations were made up of ...

Mario DeBenedetti I
Mario DeBenedetti II
Mario DeBenedetti III

... Is that cool or what?

It seems like the retail store opens between 5:30 and 7AM and closes between 11AM and 1 PM depending on the day.

Just in case you are wondering what kind of sweet treat they offer here's a sample: cookies, donuts & danish's, strudels, coffee cakes and fruit tarts.

Hungry yet?

Going south on Chicago look for the bakery on the right at 5th, which is just before I-80.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
