The Slovenian-American Union Hall building at 508 N. Chicago was built as the the national headquarters for the Grand Carniolian Catholic Union (KSKJ) of the United States of America, apparently a sort of Fraternal Benifit Society whose members recieved injury and/or burial insurance benifits.

xThe inscription above the door reads URAD, I don't know what that stands for. That had been boxed over at some point and pieces of the box can be seen in this 2022 photo. The group operated in this building until 1938 when the moved to a larger building a couple blocks away at 351 N. Chicago St.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
