A large Welcome to Hamel sign and a Route 66 Wayside Exhibit along with a large Route 66 shield monument are located next to the former Illinois Traction System railroad depot across the road from Weezy's. The shield was installed in 2022.

xThe 2010 Wayside Exhibit, "Trucking Down 66 - Cassens Transport and Hamel" is located across the street from Weezy's. The marker tells us that Cassons Transport was originally based in Hamel near the Tourist Haven restaurant (Weezy's). Cassons hauled cars on a fleet of trucks beginning in 1931.
