The Historic Kankakee Street Car Diner was moved here after the Riviera Roadhouse Restaurant burned down. This little diner has seen a lot of years and uses. It was originally a horse drawn streetcar which was moved to Gardner and became a diner in 1932. In 1937 it was a cottage and playhouse. It was moved to behind the Riviera Roadhouse in 1955. It was refurbished in 2011. It is located at the corner of N. Center St. at E. Mazon St.

x There are a number of old jails displayed along Route 66. This one housed two cells behind a guards desk area.

x Not exactly luxury accommodations, but compared to some of the pioneer jails farther west this place looks downright comfy! The cells are even apparently designed to accommodate just one miscreant at a time!

x As part of this park there is a nice memorial to veterans located on the front corner.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
