Before the photo op was installed theer was just a vacant pullout as seen in this 2012 photo. The old diner that sat beside the restaurant is now in Gardner.

Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
I'm
not sure when the photo op was erected, but here it is in 2022.
