This cemetery is named after President Lincoln who signed into law the
legislation that authorized the establishment of national cemeteries in
1862. It is located at Hwy. 53 (Route 66) and Hoff Road a few miles south
of Preston Heights.
Eventually
this cemetery will provide 400,000 burial spaces.
Covering
982 acres this is the second largest national cemetery and was dedicated
in October of 1999. It is the 117th national cemetery.

About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
