C.M. Baker & Son's Furniture Store was built in 1880, replacing the
store that had just burned down only five months earlier. In 1927 it was
the oldest furniture store and undertaking business in Dwight and had
been enlarged in 1890 & 1911. By the mid-50s four generations of Bakers
had been involved in the business. . The undertaking business was moved
to a new location in 1946.

road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
