Looking west on Jackson Drive from Lake Shore Drive at the waterfront. This was the starting and ending point for Route 66 from 1933 to 1977. The Willis (Sears) Tower was built in 1974 and it was the tallest building (1,450 feet) in the world until 1998 and it's the tallest building in this photo.

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
