Selz Shoe's Mural (Gone)

This wonderful advertising mural was refurbished after being discovered when an adjoining building was demolished, but a building has again been built on the vacant lot in front of the mural. It was a great example of outdoor advertising, but as can be seen in this photo it was in need of some attention in the spring of 2012.

These shoes were manufactured by Rolf Selz who immigrated from Germany. The company closed in the late 1940s.

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
