The station is now owned by the Village of Chatham and no longer serves rail passengers. The Friends of the Depot restored it in 1991. In 1999 it was restored again, this time by the Chicago & Illinois Midland Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society who operate it as the Chatham Railroad Museum.

It is 1 block off 4 at E Mulberry 1 block south of Walnut.

x This depot was built in 1902 to replace an earlier one just to the north that had burned down. The railroad came to Chatham in 1852. The railroad changed names a few times since then.

1852: Chicago and Mississippi. It was changed again in
1855: Chicago, Alton and Mississippi
1861: Chicago and Alton
1931: Alton Railroad
1947: Gulf, Mobile and Ohio.
In 2015 the tracks were part of the Union Pacific Railroad and were used for freight and Amtrak passenger trains.

The station closed in 1972 when the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio merged with the Illinois Central
