East < GO > West

The Wolf Creek Bridge just northeast of the pullout for the Meramac Caverns Barn Sign. There were two side by side bridges here that were built for the four lane 1955 alignment of Route 66. The abutments for the bridge that has been removed are still in place.

GPS: 40.944069, -88.580570

There is a small plaque on the existing bridge that notes the construction date. Note that it refers to IL-4 not US Route 66.

Heading west there is a directional Historic Route 66 sign pointing to the pullout

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
