East < GO > West

These homes were built by the Standard Oil Company to house mine workers in 1917. The Standard Oil connection is where the Standard Addition name comes from. With 152 houses spanning 9 blocks it is the largest group of Sears Catalog Homes still standing in the USA.

Turn east on Rice St. which runs through the middle of the Standard Addition. More or less includes High St. on the west, University on the east, Whitley on the north and Burton on the south.

x Three of the Sears home styles are shown on this page.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
