This plaque mounted on a large rock commemorates a speech given at this spot by Abraham Lincoln in 1858. It is located on East 1st Street about a half block east of S. Broad Street. It is just before the driveway for the parking lot of the Carlinville United Methodist Church.

1858 IN THE COURSE OF HIS
FAMOUS CAMPAIGN AGAINST
