The former Hamblin's Separate is now the Atlanta Country Market Super Value, Frank Kaup ran Kaup's Separate from 1951-1981. His daughter and her husband, Homer Hamblin, took over and ran it until 2004 when they sold it and it became Atlanta Country Market. In 2014 it became part of the SuperValu chain.

A couple of kind of fun notes are that as part of celebrating the town's Sesquicentennial (150 years) in 2003 Hamblin's promoted the "Beard Judging Contest" at the ball field. Before that, in 1987 they were one of the sponsors of local race car driver Doug Nichols and his sportsman class car that ran at Springfield and maybe other tracks.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
