In the 1940s this was a rooming house for long-term tenants like teachers at the local school. The place had been empty and abused for around 50 years before being renovated and returned to its 1940s splendor. The house is located just a couple of blocks off Route 66 and is easy to find. After operating as a Bed-n-Breakfast lodging for several years the business closed in the spring of 2023.

xBack when it was a rooming house tenants would typically rent one of the three bedrooms and of course share the bathroom with the owners and any other tenants. Of course there is also a living room, dining room and kitchen.

xThere is a nice little sign out front. To continue on your tour of Atlanta, turn around and head back to cross Arch St. to the Fire Department building to see the mural on the door.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
