Peanuts, Spike at Subway,

Charles Schulz created Spike, Snoopy's brother which first appeared in the comic strip in August 1975. Schulz lived in Needles in 1928-1930. He was born in Nov 1922.

xBecause of this, his widow has allowed Spike to be placed in Needles. He is on a moveable stand so he can go from place to place.

The "official"starting and ending points as well as the location of Route 66 in Chicago changed through the years, as did the location of the Route itself.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
