xThe Polly Gas sign at what was Newton's Towing is located in a fenced in area right next to the Helendale Market on National Trails Highway (Route 66). Those gas prices bring back some fond memories! The prices on the sign could be from the 1950s.

Polly Gas was a west coast operation from the 1920s through the late 1950s. They had become part of Los Angeles based Wilshire Oil in the 1930 but was apparently still operating as Polly Gas until 1960 when Wilshire and Polly became part of Gulf Oil.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
