The Hat Restaurant

The Hat has been here since 1951 according to the sign. That puts it squarely in the 50's Route 66 experience. It opened as a family restaurant and is located on Route 66 just west of Grand Ave. The fries orders come in a large brown bag and are large enough to share.

x The hat is outlined in neon and all of the lettering is lit with neon. The yellow panel lettering has changed over the years. It started out saying "Charcoal Broiled Burgers / Hotdogs". The current sign includes "Since 1951", back then coffee was a nickel and a burger was 25 cents according to an old photo on their website.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
