If you turn onto Swarthout Road you quickly come to a sharp left, at that point there is a row of boulders in a gravel area on your right. Those boulders block what was entrance to the site of an old Federal Migrant Camp built in the 1930s to provide a camp for dust bowl migrants.

I've seen references to an unofficial migrant camp in the Blue Cut area but I'm not sure if this was that spot or another spot nearby.

The small community of Cozy Dell was immediately north of this site.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
